Evers, a highly-rated quarterback in the Class of 2022, began his collegiate career as a redshirt freshman with the Oklahoma Sooners before transferring to Wisconsin last year.
During his time with the Badgers, Evers faced challenges adjusting to a new offensive system, resulting in him primarily practicing with the third-team offense initially.
Despite showing improvement in the recent offseason, Evers found limited opportunities with the top two offenses, as transfers Tyler Van Dyke and Braedyn Locke dominated those roles.
With three years of eligibility remaining, Evers chose to enter the transfer portal in search of a more promising path to playing time.
His decision to join UConn reunites him with former teammate Skyler Bell, who also transferred to the Huskies earlier. Furthermore, Dean Engram, a former Badgers player, announced his transfer to UConn the day before.
At UConn, Evers is expected to compete for the starting quarterback position, following the departure of former starter Ta’Quan Roberson, who also announced his transfer from the Huskies recently.
