BREAKING: Former Alabama Star Makes NFL History With New Contract worth $96 million

After an impressive start to his professional career, Denver Broncos cornerback and former Alabama standout Patrick Surtain II has redefined the cornerback market with a new contract extension.

Recently, contract values in the NFL have surged, with top free-agent quarterbacks, wide receivers, offensive tackles, and EDGE rushers securing record deals. Now, the cornerback position has joined the trend, as Surtain has signed a nearly $100 million deal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday morning that this new contract makes Surtain the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history.

According to Schefter, the Broncos and the two-time Pro Bowler have agreed to a four-year, $96 million extension, featuring $77.5 million guaranteed. Schefter noted, “Tory Dandy of CAA negotiated the deal.” If a franchise is willing to offer a defensive back close to $100 million, Surtain is an excellent candidate, given that he is just 24 and already boasts two Pro Bowl selections.

Moreover, he earned First-Team All-Pro honors in 2022, the pinnacle recognition for his position. Over three seasons before this lucrative extension, Surtain has accumulated 187 tackles (150 solo), seven interceptions, 36 pass deflections, and one forced fumble.

Remarkably, he has played every game since his rookie year, during which he missed only two. Patrick Surtain is not just an elite and dependable corner but also has secured significant financial rewards for his talents.
