Breaking: Ex-Clippers star shares his painful thoughts on the significant Knicks trade

Last season, it seemed that Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns were set to become a powerful duo in the Western Conference. However, those expectations changed abruptly when Towns was traded to the Knicks just before training camp. The trade left NBA fans puzzled, and former players like Lou Williams shared their confusion. On an episode of FanDuel’s Run It Back, Williams openly discussed his views on the Timberwolves’ decision to trade KAT to New York. He hesitated to assert that the move improved the Wolves. “It’s going to be interesting; I hate to say worse, because Julius Randle is an All-Star-caliber player who will provide a different dynamic,” Williams mentioned. “I was starting to get used to the idea of KAT and Ant developing together. I was looking forward to that one-two punch and adding solid pieces around them. It left me a bit puzzled, though I understand it was more about salary cap considerations than a basketball decision.”

At first glance, Lou Williams thinks the New York Knicks definitely improved by acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns. However, he raises concerns about potential fit issues for the Minnesota Timberwolves. “On paper, the New York Knicks definitely seem better with KAT, especially with the addition of DiVincenzo and Julius Randle, who are both very capable and talented players,” Williams said. “However, there are some questions. As Chandler [Parsons] pointed out, there might be spacing and style of play concerns that I’ll need to see how they work out.”

It will be fascinating to watch both the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves next season, as both teams experienced surprising changes just before training camp.
