The Columbus Blue Jackets have officially signed center Luca Pinelli to a three-year entry-level contract set to commence during the 2024-25 season. Pinelli, who was chosen by Columbus in the fourth round as the 114th overall pick during the 2023 NHL Draft at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, is a promising talent.
At 19 years old, Pinelli showcased impressive performance in the 2023-24 season with the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s. He tallied 48 goals, 34 assists, totaling 82 points, along with 44 penalty minutes, 15 power play goals, five game-winning goals, and 266 shots on goal across 68 games. Notably, he served as the captain of the 67’s, achieving career highs and ranking among the top players in the OHL for goals, power play goals, and shots on goal.
Hailing from Stoney Creek, Ontario, Pinelli has accumulated notable stats throughout his OHL career, amassing 91 goals, 90 assists, and 181 points, with 146 penalty minutes, 30 power play goals, and 12 game-winning goals in 194 games.
Additionally, he boasts a cumulative +25 plus/minus rating. In playoff appearances, he has contributed significantly, recording 14 goals and 15 assists in 29 points over 25 games. Pinelli’s consistent performance and leadership on the ice have been evident, making him a valuable addition to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
