We’ve just gotten more evidence that Montreal Canadiens fans are excited to see Ivan Demidov. The team sparked intrigue by sharing a photo of a mysterious briefcase on social media, asking fans, “What’s inside this briefcase?” Here’s the post in question:

It may not mean much, but it certainly didn’t take much to ignite a flurry of reactions and hopes on social media. The post rapidly garnered a lot of comments from fans wishing that the mysterious briefcase holds a contract for Ivan Demidov, who has been having a tough time in the KHL this season.

Many of the comments on the post focus on the eagerly awaited contract for Ivan Demidov, but sadly, that’s probably not the reality. Montreal is genuinely thrilled about the possibility of Ivan Demidov arriving in North America and signing a contract. However, it’s important to note that since the season began, he has frequently been the 13th forward, averaging only 3-4 minutes of playing time per game, which is quite absurd and detrimental to his development.

Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton likely share our enthusiasm for him to join Montreal (or Laval), but his KHL contract complicates things. This is definitely a situation to keep an eye on. Regarding the enigmatic post from the Montreal Canadiens, as we noted, it probably isn’t anything significant, but this incident highlights the collective eagerness for Ivan Demidov to finally make the leap across the Atlantic.
