BREAKING: Austin Peay Coach Arrested in Human Trafficking Sting

Former Austin Peay Football Assistant Patrick Kugler Arrested on Human Trafficking Charges

Patrick Kugler, a former assistant football coach at Austin Peay, was arrested on Thursday in Clarksville, Tennessee, just days after resigning from his position on August 18. He faces a charge of trafficking for sexual servitude, as announced by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

The TBI’s operation aimed to identify individuals attempting to engage in commercial sex acts with minors. The arrests followed a sting operation utilizing decoy advertisements on websites associated with prostitution and commercial sex.

During the operation, law enforcement contacted ads linked to these activities, leading to the recovery of seven potential human trafficking victims, who were then offered support from a victim service organization.

Austin Peay confirmed Kugler’s arrest and stated that the Clarksville Police Department is handling the case, with no further comments from the university at this time. The football team is set to kick off their season against the Louisville Cardinals on August 31 at noon ET.
