The most recent standout recruit for the class of 2025, has chosen to join the Tigers over Power Five schools, further strengthening Memphis’ already impressive offseason.
This significant commitment by wide receiver marks another positive development for Memphis football in what has been a momentum-shifting offseason.
“I’m very excited,” Hutchins told KTRK, ABC24’s affiliate in Houston. “It’s the end of the process, a long process but I’m ready to come home.”
According to ESPN, the highly-rated recruit, given a four-star rating, opted to commit to Memphis despite receiving offers from several other Division 1 FBS programs, with Houston and Nebraska being his other top considerations.
Hailing from Texas and attending Shadow Creek High School, near Houston, he is ranked as a three-star recruit by 247 Sports and is placed within their top 70 for wide receivers nationwide.
Hutchins expressed his determination and ambition for the team by stating,
“We’re going to give our all, be aggressive, compete relentlessly, and finish strong with the Creek Boys mindset. Anyone standing in our path will have to face me head-on.”
On Friday, during his and his twin brother’s 17th birthday celebration, the 6-foot, 160-pound wide receiver, known as Rah Rah, revealed his decision in front of his close friends and family.
Hutchins, also referred to as Rah Rah, becomes part of what seems to be an impressive 2025 recruiting class for Memphis, which includes standout prospects such as four-star quarterback Antwann Hill Jr., the highest-rated QB recruit ever for the Tigers, along with three-star wide receivers Andrew Leslie and Xavier Johnson.
The Memphis football team is set to kick off the 2024 season on Saturday, August 31st, at 6 p.m. against North Alabama at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
