BREAKING: 4-star QB commit shuts down his recruitment to the Noles

A highly-rated quarterback recruit has decided to end his consideration of other colleges and commit to Florida State.

Florida State’s football coaching staff continues to excel in securing top-tier prospects for their 2025 recruiting class, having recently added highly-regarded players such as four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley, and four-star defensive tackles Kevin Wynn and Myron Charles.

The Seminoles currently hold the 57th position in the 2025 recruiting class rankings according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. While adding new talent is crucial, maintaining the commitment of existing prospects is equally important.

One such committed prospect, four-star defensive end Javion Hilson from Cocoa, Florida, recently announced that he has permanently closed his recruitment in favor of Florida State after his official visit weekend with the team.

This announcement was particularly exciting as Florida State was in competition with the Texas Longhorns for Hilson. Fortunately, he chose to stay with the Seminoles.

However, Hilson was not the only committed prospect the Seminoles were working to retain. They were also focused on keeping four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida committed to the program.

Jones Jr. had been considering contact with the rival Florida Gators, despite the Gators already securing a highly-rated quarterback, DJ Lagway. Additionally, there was uncertainty regarding the continuity of head coach Billy Napier after the 2024 season.

The talented quarterback recently put an end to the speculation by announcing on Twitter that he is no longer considering other schools.

This is significant news for the Seminoles. However, recruiting is dynamic, and the decision-making process involves young individuals. Nevertheless, it is positive to see Jones Jr. reaffirming his commitment to Florida State.
