The Raptors have confirmed a contract extension to retain Olynyk, whom they acquired during the trade deadline, ensuring he remains with the team and avoiding him becoming a free agent this summer. In the nine games he has played as a substitute for the Raptors, Olynyk has maintained an average of 9.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Olynyk’s playing style naturally complements the team due to his ability to create space on the floor and draw opposing big men away from the paint, thereby creating driving opportunities for Scottie Barnes and Pascal Siakam
The Raptors have secured Olynyk’s contract, but they face several other choices this summer, beginning with determining the contract terms for restricted free agent Immanuel Quickley. Additionally, they need to decide on whether to exercise the team option for Bruce Brown.
