NBA Insider Expose a 3-Team Blockbuster Trade – Miami Heat to Land an offensive player in 24 hours

The Miami Heat is set to add Kyrie Irving to their roster, while the Dallas Mavericks are looking to bring in players such as Tyler Herro and Caleb Martin

The current season hasn’t gone as expected for the Miami Heat in 2023-24. Their recent 103-95 defeat against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday evening brought the reigning Eastern Conference champions to a 26-24 record for the season.

In an effort to turn their season around, the Heat have made a notable trade by adding Terry Rozier, but it appears they are still in need of additional scoring power. One potential solution could come in the form of acquiring Kyrie Irving, as reported by The Athletic in a mock trade scenario where Miami secures the services of the star guard

Trade Breakdown:

Dallas Mavericks get: Tyler Herro, P.J. Washington, Caleb Martin, 2029 first-round pick from Miami Heat

Miami Heat get: Kyrie Irving, Markieff Morris

Charlotte Hornets get: Grant Williams, Nikola Jovic, Jaden Hardy

Following the unsuccessful attempt to acquire Damian Lillard during the offseason, the Heat would secure their star point guard through this trade. The Dallas Mavericks would acquire two valuable assets in Tyler Herro and P.J. Washington. As for the Charlotte Hornets, this trade would bring them two promising young players along with Grant Williams, who they could later trade in a separate deal.

The Heat’s Offense Receives a Vital Upturn

heats new signing

One major factor contributing to the Heat’s lackluster performance this season has been their offense. Miami holds an offensive rating of 112.8, ranking 23rd in the NBA. With Irving averaging 25.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game, he is expected to significantly bolster their offensive production.

While it’s still early days, Rozier hasn’t quite made the impact on offense that the Heat had hoped for. Dealing with shooting struggles, this issue is likely to be mitigated with Irving in the lineup.

Kyrie’s presence would be crucial, especially come playoff time. In the previous season, we witnessed Jimmy Butler tiring out as the Heat went to the NBA Finals. Irving could alleviate the burden on Butler, potentially providing that missing piece needed for the Heat to secure a championship, following their losses in the Finals of the past two years.

The Mavericks Gain Dependability

Initially, this trade may not appear to be the most advantageous for the Mavericks, given that they are losing a proven star player. However, Irving’s increasing susceptibility to injuries is a cause for concern. The eight-time All-Star has participated in only 28 games this season, and his health is not expected to improve with age.

Herro could offer a better compatibility alongside Luka Doncic. Standing at 6’5″, he is a larger guard and is more suited to playing off-ball compared to Irving. Herro has demonstrated solid performances this season, averaging 21.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.

On the other side, in Washington, the Mavericks acquire a versatile forward who could even fill in at center if necessary. Capable of defending multiple positions, he is a valuable asset on the offensive end too, averaging 13.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game this season.

Caleb Martin’s inclusion would be a beneficial addition, and the Mavericks also regain some draft assets in this trade that were forfeited when they acquired Irving.

The Hornets Acquire Additional Foundational Pieces for the Future

In this trade, the Hornets would receive Nikola Jovic and Jaden Hardy, two promising young talents, while parting ways with Washington. Currently holding a 10-39 record for the season, Charlotte remains focused on building for the future. Jovic and Hardy have the potential to join forces with LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, forming a strong young core for the Hornets in the coming years.

Regarding Williams, Charlotte has the option to retain him or potentially trade him to another competitive team in exchange for more draft assets or young players. This three-team trade seems to offer benefits to all involved parties in various ways.
