Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are still in a contentious situation, with rumors circulating about a potential trade request. Things took a turn for the worse yesterday when Cam Neely criticized Swayman for not agreeing to a rumored $64 million contract. In response, Swayman’s agent, Lewis Gross, clarified that they had never received such an offer, which only served to further tarnish the Bruins’ reputation.

“I typically don’t provide statements or discuss negotiations publicly. However, I feel it necessary to advocate for my client in this instance. During today’s press conference, a figure of $64 million was mentioned for the first time in our negotiations. Prior to that, no offer approaching that amount was made. We’re very disappointed; this situation has been unfair to Jeremy.
We’ll take a few days to determine our next steps.” Meanwhile, reporter Frank Seravalli has revealed what he claims is the actual offer the Bruins proposed to Swayman: an eight-year deal worth $7.8 million per year. In contrast, Swayman is seeking $8.5 million. While it seems like the two sides are far apart, they are actually quite close. Only time will reveal who comes out ahead in this public relations battle.
