Boston Bruins CEO Makes Bold Statement After Disappointing 2024-25 Season
Following several impressive regular seasons in recent years, the Boston Bruins stumbled during the 2024–25 campaign. After parting ways with some of their core players, the outlook for the team seemed uncertain.
However, the offseason has brought significant changes. While many analysts don’t expect the Bruins to be serious playoff contenders, there’s a sense of cautious optimism in Boston that the team could exceed expectations.
Bruins CEO Charlie Jacobs recently shared his outlook for the upcoming season in an interview. Despite widespread skepticism, he remains hopeful after a productive summer.
“We’ve made a lot of moves since last year’s trade deadline — not just with the roster, but also in our coaching staff,” Jacobs said. “There are plenty of new faces and a fresh energy around the team. Honestly, it was time for a change. We owed our fans more than what we delivered last season, and we knew we had to put in the work to revamp things. I think people will start to see that come October.”

Jacobs’ optimism largely stems from the hiring of new head coach Marco Sturm. When asked about Sturm, Jacobs was full of praise, suggesting that the coach’s impact could lead to some surprising results this season.
“Marco is outstanding,” Jacobs said. “He’s an excellent communicator—very passionate and articulate. He played under several coaches who were heavily focused on systems, and that experience has clearly shaped him. He has a powerful story about his journey to becoming an NHL head coach. He understood early on what it would take to prepare himself for this role, and the dedication he’s shown to reach this point is impressive. I think fans are going to be pleasantly surprised by what they see from him and the team on the ice.”
While the current roster may not match the playoff-caliber talent the Bruins have had in recent years, there are promising pieces in place. If the team can stay competitive throughout the season, it could turn out to be a refreshing and encouraging year for fans.
