Carnell Warren, a four-star wide receiver from Bluffton, South Carolina, has committed to the University of North Carolina. Previously pledged to Virginia Tech, Warren had received close to 20 scholarship offers and is ranked among the top 50 receivers in the 2026 recruiting class, per the 247Sports composite.
His decision marks a significant loss for Virginia Tech but a major win for UNC and its head coach, Bill Belichick. The Tar Heels extended an offer to Warren in mid-February, and he officially announced his commitment on Wednesday.
Belichick’s storied NFL career, including six Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots, played a major role in Warren’s choice.
“I’m committed to UNC,” Warren told Rivals’ Chad Simmons. “The coaching staff is elite. It’s the best environment for me to grow and prepare for the NFL. This is the place where I can turn everything around in four years.”
All glory to god. My recruitment is shut down! Chapel hill let’s go! https://t.co/de7w0H3yqu
