Kentucky Out of Contention for 2025 Target Braylon Mullins
Kentucky is no longer in the running for one of its prioritized targets in the 2025 recruiting class. On Tuesday, Braylon Mullins, a top 25 guard, announced his top three schools, and Kentucky did not make the cut. The five-star guard is now considering Indiana, UConn, and North Carolina, with his college decision set for October, as reported by Joe Tipton of On3.
Mullins was among Kentucky’s primary targets, so the focus will now shift to another key recruit, Acaden Lewis. Both Lewis and Kentucky commit Jasper Johnson have previously expressed a desire to play together in college. Additionally, Caleb Wilson, another target for the Wildcats, has hinted on social media about the possibility of joining forces with Lewis at the next level. This connection could bode well for Kentucky if they increase their recruitment efforts with both players.
Standing at 6-6, Mullins is recognized as one of the most efficient shooters in the class and would have fit seamlessly into Mark Pope’s offensive system. However, Mullins has emphasized he is seeking “team-bonding” in his next step, according to his interview with Tipton. His decision to cut Kentucky could actually enhance their prospects with Lewis, potentially creating an exciting backcourt alongside Jasper Johnson in Lexington. The notion that Lewis and Wilson might be a package deal adds further intrigue to Kentucky’s recruiting strategy for 2025.
Though Kentucky was regarded as a leading option for Mullins, it appears they will now redirect their efforts elsewhere.
