Ashton Jeanty Predicted to Pair with Five-Time Pro Bowl RB
Ashton Jeanty had an outstanding 2024 season with the Boise State Broncos, carrying the ball 374 times for 2,601 yards (leading the FBS) and scoring 29 touchdowns, which earned him the runner-up position in the Heisman Trophy voting.
He is now preparing to advance his career and enter the 2025 NFL Draft, where ESPN has ranked him as the top running back and the fifth-best overall player available.
In a mock draft by The 33rd Team, NFL analyst Marcus Mosher forecasts that the New Orleans Saints will choose Jeanty with the ninth overall pick.
“The Saints have numerous needs on both sides of the ball, but the opportunity to pair Ashton Jeanty with Alvin Kamara for a season is too tempting to ignore,” Mosher wrote. “It also helps that the new head coach, Kellen Moore, is a Boise State alum. Moore is expected to create a balanced offense in New Orleans, and selecting Jeanty would indicate his intention to focus on the run game early and often with the Saints.”
In 2024, Kamara had an impressive season, rushing for 950 yards and six touchdowns while also excelling as a receiver with 68 catches for 543 yards and two touchdowns.
Throughout his eight years with the Saints, he has proven himself as one of the top running backs in the NFL, earning five Pro Bowl selections, two Second-Team All-Pro honors, and the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2017.
This situation would also allow Jeanty to gradually adapt to the NFL without the pressure of being the team’s primary option, as Kamara is entering the first year of his two-year, $ 24.5 million extension.
However, Jeanty still has the potential to significantly contribute to a Saints offense that ranked 21st in total yards per game (320.1) and tied for 24th in points per game (19.9) last season.
