Ascending DE named Bills’ ‘most promising building block’ entering 2024 NFL season

Buffalo Bills’ standout DE Gregory Rousseau identified as team’s top long-term asset heading into 2024 NFL season according to Bleacher Report.

When assessing talent, game film reigns supreme. Stats and highlights are flashy but only tell part of the story. General managers rely on film to truly grasp a player’s abilities since it provides vital context for evaluation.

For Rousseau, his on-field performance at Miami raised questions despite his impressive 15.5 sacks in his freshman year. Some pundits doubted his pass rush skills, pointing out many of his sacks were “clean-up” plays.

However, his physical attributes and potential as a top-tier pass rusher convinced the Bills to select him in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Since then, Rousseau has proven himself as a solid run defender and has shown flashes as a pass rusher, amassing 17 sacks and 62 quarterback pressures in 2023. His growth has garnered praise, with David Kenyon suggesting he’s the Bills’ cornerstone player.

With Buffalo picking up his fifth-year option, Rousseau’s future with the team looks bright. His development suggests a contract extension could be on the horizon, further solidifying his position as a key player for the Bills.
