Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns fell just short of a title once again, losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes 28-14 in the College Football Playoff semifinals from the Cotton Bowl. This marked the second straight year Texas was eliminated in the final four.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers has been the starter for the Longhorns over the past few seasons. But now, the junior out of Southlake, Texas, has declared for the 2025 NFL draft, handing the keys to the offense over to Manning next season.
Since joining the Longhorns in 2023, Manning has become one of the biggest names in all of college football. This is likely due to his NFL uncles, Peyton and Eli. However, the freshman quarterback has had some difficulties on the Austin campus.

Recently, Manning participated in an online interview with sprungtime on TikTok. When asked if it was easy to blend in at Texas given his popularity, Manning revealed some issues he has dealt with.
“As long as you just act like everyone else and live your life, it’s pretty easy,” Manning said. “Obviously, it’s a little harder around campus, just getting recognized. Other than that, it’s been solid.”
Manning also admitted that he has a few spots around Austin where he can “get away” and be around people who don’t know much about football.
Manning appeared in ten games this season, including two starts (2-0) with Ewers sidelined with an injury. In those games, Manning completed 61-of-90 passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions while adding another 108 yards and four scores on the ground.
Texas will open up the Manning era on Saturday, August 30, against Ohio State, seeking payback for the College Football Playoff elimination from this past season.
