Anthony Thompson Send Clear Message To the North Carolina Tar Heels & Head Coach Hubert Davis
In early January, Anthony Thompson, a small forward from Western Reserve Academy in Ohio, announced that he received an offer from Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball coaching staff. Nearly four months later, the Tar Heels have made it into the five-star junior’s top 15 schools
Thompson shared his top school list on Friday through a social media post, which included BYU, Texas, Xavier, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Georgetown, Indiana, Auburn, Notre Dame, Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan State, and Michigan, in addition to the Tar Heels.

The 6-foot-8, 185-pound left-handed player made his cuts after receiving more than 30 offers early in the 2026 recruiting cycle. He is currently ranked No. 11 overall, No. 3 among small forwards, and No. 1 in Ohio on the 247Sports 2026 Composite.
“Whenever Anthony Thompson is in the gym, it’s nearly impossible to find a jump shot that looks better,” remarked Eric Bossi from 247Sports about the versatile shooter who is said to have “almost a 7-foot-3 wingspan.”
UNC basketball has made numerous offers in the 2026 recruiting cycle and is still in the running for many of its key targets.
