Another Virginia transfer enters the portal once again, another casualty of Coach Bennett’s retirement

Virginia has seen another transfer since Coach Tony Bennett’s unexpected retirement, with a player choosing to enter the transfer portal, according to Jerry Ratcliffe. This decision comes just eight days before the team’s season opener.

This player, who averaged 7.5 points at Florida State and was expected to fill the starting point guard role for UVA, brought a 6’7″ frame reminiscent of Ty Jerome to the position. However, his departure may partly stem from new head coach Ron Sanchez’s preference for a small-ball lineup, which might not have suited a taller point guard.

Despite this loss, UVA’s point guard depth remains strong. The team still has Andrew Rohde, Christian Bliss, and Dai Dai Ames ready to lead. Additionally, this player had just one year of eligibility left, so if anyone were likely to leave, it would be him.

While Virginia was ranked low in the preseason and unranked in the ACC, fans can still expect a team with a distinctive UVA style and Bennett-like approach.
