Another Maryland Top Prospect Announces His Commitment Destination After decommitting from the Terrapins
Former Maryland commit Brian Harris has found a new home. On Friday, the 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive tackle announced his commitment to Oklahoma, just months after decommitting from the Terrapins in February.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Harris was previously closely tied to former Maryland defensive coordinator Brian Williams. After Williams’ departure from the program, Harris decided to reopen his recruitment.
Rated as the No. 531 overall prospect in the 2026 class, Harris had a number of top programs pursuing him, including Michigan, Alabama, and Penn State. In the end, he chose to join the Sooners.

A promising young defensive lineman who has stood out in combine settings but is still working to translate that potential to full-game performance. He missed a significant portion of his sophomore season due to injury but showed flashes of one-gap pass-rushing ability as a junior competing in one of Florida’s top high school divisions.
Though he measures slightly under 6-foot-3, he possesses long arms that help him shed blockers effectively. He’s shown the ability to stay low and bend around the edge, along with strong short-area quickness. However, his stamina can be inconsistent, particularly when rushing from wider alignments.
His skill set projects best on the interior, likely as a 3-technique who can penetrate gaps and disrupt plays. To reach his full potential, he’ll need to improve his run defense and become more comfortable with the physical demands of interior line play. Still, he profiles as a potential multi-year contributor at the Power Four level.
