Jase Mathews Four-Star WR Announce Commitment Decision As LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn & A&M Make Final Cut
Leakesville (Miss.) Greene County standout Jase Mathews, a four-star wide receiver, has trimmed his college choices to four schools as he nears the end of his recruitment this summer.
Mathews, currently ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation, has received numerous offers throughout his high school career but has now finalized his top four.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect is focusing on LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Texas A&M, with a commitment announcement scheduled for August 8.
Following an impressive high school career in Mississippi, Mathews has emerged as one of the premier wide receiver talents in the 2026 recruiting class.

During his junior season at Greene County, standout wide receiver Jase Mathews delivered a dominant performance, hauling in 68 catches for 1,138 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2024.
With his senior year approaching, Mathews’ full attention has shifted to the recruiting trail, where four SEC powerhouses are turning up the heat for the nation’s top uncommitted receiver.
LSU made a major impression during Mathews’ official visit to Baton Rouge in June. He spent time with the Tigers’ coaching staff, toured the facilities, interacted with current players, and took part in a photoshoot at Tiger Stadium.
As Mathews gets closer to making his decision, LSU has emerged as a serious contender in his recruitment.
Meanwhile, hometown program Ole Miss, along with Auburn and Texas A&M, continue to be strong players in the race. The Rebels, led by Lane Kiffin, were the first to offer Mathews early in his high school career and have hosted him on campus multiple times, keeping them firmly in the mix.
The battle for Mathews is expected to go down to the wire, with each program stepping up efforts, but LSU remains a major threat as his commitment date nears.
The Tigers already have three wide receiver commits in their 2026 class:
-
Tristen Keys: No. 1 WR in the nation
-
Jabari Mack: No. 1 WR in Louisiana
-
Kenny Darby: No. 2 WR in Louisiana
Now, LSU is looking to add a fourth — with Mathews sitting atop their wish list.
