Nate Oats has produced impressive results for Alabama basketball, but even the prominent head coach is not immune to the impact of the transfer portal.

According to Pete Nakos with On3 Sports, key reserve forward Mouhamed Dioubate is heading for the transfer portal. Dioubate appeared in 70 games across his 2 seasons in the program without making a start, but his impact was significant.

As a sophomore, Dioubate averaged 7.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists and was a crucial defender for Oats and the Crimson Tide. He also shot over 60% from the floor and 46% from 3-point range. In addition to those numbers, Dioubate was a regular recipient of Oats’s hard-hat honor that he bestowed on an Alabama player after each win.

Dioubate joins former 4-star prospect Naas Cunningham as players to enter the transfer portal so far this offseason.

The good news is Alabama is also reaping rewards from the portal. So far, Oats and his staff have added commitments from 7-footer Noah Williamson (Bucknell) and 6-foot-10 forward Taylor Bol Bowen (Florida State).

Losing a contributor like Dioubate certainly stings, but is plenty of time for Alabama to round out the roster heading into the 2025-26 season after another Elite Eight run this season.
