Alabama CB Kool-Aid McKinstry has Jones fracture in right foot, won’t work out at combine

Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry, who is likely to be selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, is currently managing a foot injury.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, McKinstry, a highly regarded All-American cornerback, was diagnosed with a Jones fracture in his right foot during medical examinations at the NFL Scouting Combine, as sources revealed.

Although he won’t be participating in the Combine activities in Indianapolis, McKinstry is anticipated to showcase his skills at Alabama’s pro day before undergoing treatment for the issue. It is expected that McKinstry will be fully recovered and ready to go for training camp.

A Jones fracture refers to a fracture of the bone located on the outer side of the foot near the pinky toe, specifically on the fifth metatarsal. These fractures can result from intense training or running on uneven terrain.

Throughout his tenure at Alabama spanning three seasons, McKinstry participated in 42 games, amassing 93 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, and defending 23 passes.

In his pre-draft analysis, NFL Media draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah positioned McKinstry as the 35th top player overall in the upcoming draft.
