This weekend is crucial for the North Carolina Tar Heels’ men’s basketball program as they welcome AJ Dybantsa, the top-ranked recruit from the Class of 2025.
UNC has extended 14 offers to players in this class, with eight 5-star recruits among them. Although some notable recruits, like Jasper Johnson who chose Kentucky, have already committed elsewhere, the Tar Heels have yet to secure any commitments.
Competition for Dybantsa is fierce, with schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, BYU, Kansas, and Kansas State also pursuing him.
To capture Dybantsa’s attention, UNC must make a significant impression. One tactic includes showcasing a photo taken with Armando Bacot, the Tar Heels’ all-time leader in rebounds and double-doubles. Bacot embodies the essence of being a Tar Heel, having played in Chapel Hill from 2020-2024 and almost leading UNC to a seventh NCAA Championship in 2022.

Bacot signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the Memphis Grizzlies earlier this month, allowing him the opportunity to play in either the NBA or the G-League.
Currently, Dybantsa is playing high school basketball at Utah Prep. Will his visit on Saturday be sufficient to persuade him to continue his college career in Chapel Hill?
