Five-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, a 2026 prospect, shared his top seven schools a few months ago, which included Maryland football. The Baltimore (MD) standout seemed interested in playing for the Terrapins and teaming up with fellow 2026 five-star Zion Elee. However, while Elee remains committed to Maryland, it appears that Iheanacho has now eliminated the Terrapins from his options.

According to the latest report from On3, Iheanacho is currently prioritizing Oregon, Penn State, LSU, and Auburn

The nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle, Immanuel Iheanacho, has indicated that Oregon is currently at the forefront of his recruitment.

“Oregon is the top school for me, but the official visits will significantly influence my final decision,” Iheanacho shared with On3. “My strong relationships with the coaching staff at Oregon are a major reason they’re my leader. I really connect with the staff, and we can discuss anything. My second visit was fantastic, and I enjoyed my first one as well. My parents also really like Oregon, which is helpful for their input. The connection with the coaching staff is the most important factor for me.”

This is a significant setback for Maryland in recruiting. Several top players from the DMV area have shown interest in the Terrapins at different times, but as time passes, many seem to be ruling out Maryland. Coach Mike Locksley will need to work hard to retain Elee’s commitment and encourage him to sign. Additionally, Locksley must demonstrate that Maryland can perform competitively on the field in 2025. After a disappointing season with just four wins, the Terrapins must show improvement to attract elite recruits
