Adam Reynolds Speaks out after footy star was involved in furious bust-up with teammate

Adam Reynolds has extended his contract with Brisbane despite a major disagreement with a fellow teammate. However, he has moved past the conflict and decided to recommit to the team.

Adam Reynolds has agreed to a one-year contract extension with Brisbane, which has pleased inaugural Broncos captain Wally Lewis. Lewis compared Reynolds to club legend Allan Langer, describing him as a ‘great communicator.’

The 33-year-old captain, whose previous contract was set to expire at the end of this season after being with the club for two years, will now remain with the team until 2025. Lewis emphasized that Reynolds is a crucial player for Brisbane and believes his extension keeps the team’s premiership aspirations alive.

“It was crucial for the team to retain him as his leadership serves as a source of inspiration for the younger players in the squad.

“By committing to the team, he has also motivated himself with the goal of surpassing last year’s grand final defeat to Penrith.”

The news came as a positive development for Brisbane, who had been dealing with a conflict involving Reynolds and fellow Broncos player Patrick Carrigan earlier in the month.

Video footage of the two players engaging in a heated argument during a night out in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley went viral, with both players apologizing for their involvement in the incident.

The video shared on social media captured Reynolds in a physical altercation as a female spectator shouted in distress.

The woman could be heard yelling, “let go of him… Adam… Pat… stop,” while another person kept repeating, “Reyno.”

Reports indicate that a group of Brisbane players visited the MAYA Mexican restaurant and bar in the bustling entertainment area. Witnesses stated that Carrigan was heavily intoxicated, prompting Reynolds to assist him in leaving and suggested taking a cab home. However, tensions escalated, leading to a confrontation that spilled outside.

Both players have since moved on from the incident, and Lewis, a highly regarded leader in the sport, highlighted a key trait of the Broncos skipper and 2014 premiership winner with South Sydney.

“I’ve observed him closely during training sessions and games, looking for players who communicate.

‘It is just priceless and inspires others to perform. It probably inspires the guy doing the talking as well.’

It is a quality Lewis admired in his old sparring partner Langer.

‘l loved playing with Alf and when he got the role as captain of the Broncos he was a fantastic talker. He used to engage in a pile of discussion on the field. That was invaluable to the team’s success,’ Lewis said.

‘Reynolds is similar in that regard. He is at the back-end of his career and that area of his game just increases and increases.

‘Reynolds has Alf there (as assistant coach) and I am sure that is a bonus if he needs anything. In his own game he is just showing plenty of confidence.’

Brisbane coach Kevin Walters said Reynolds had made ‘a huge impact in a short time here at the Broncos’.

‘We all know what Reyno brings to our club – he is our leader and our general and he has made,’ said Walters.

‘I’m looking forward to seeing Reyno running out to lead our team and helping bring out the best in our emerging talent, as well as continuing to do those things that only he can do with the ball in hand.’
