A bad loss for BYU Basketball
BYU basketball will be losing another freshman as guard Elijah Crawford has officially decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal on Monday.
Crawford, a 6-foot-2 guard from Augusta, Georgia, saw limited action during last season in Provo. He appeared in 21 games, but most of his playing time came during the closing moments of non-conference matchups.
In fact, he logged just 17 total minutes during BYU’s Big 12 schedule and the postseason, highlighting how challenging it was for him to find consistent minutes.
Crawford originally joined BYU after flipping his commitment from Stanford. He followed assistant coach Brandon Dunson to Provo and came before Egor Demin joined the team. Despite the limited minutes, Crawford was a contributor for the Cougars off the bench, bringing energy to the program.
An original four-star Brewster Academy standout, Crawford was ranked as the No. 112 player in the 2024 recruiting class. At Brewster, he averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game during his senior year.
With three years of eligibility left, Crawford will now search for a fresh start elsewhere. He becomes the second Cougar to enter the portal, joining Kanon Catchings.
