Kirby Smart identifies potential for growth in Carson Beck
Carson Beck, Georgia’s quarterback, is entering the 2024 college football season not only as one of the top quarterbacks but also as one of the premier players nationwide. Beck is currently tied for the best odds to win the Heisman Trophy and holds the fourth position in On3’s Clark Brooks’ Top 100 Players in College Football for the 2024 season.
While Beck showcased his talent impressively during his inaugural season as a starting quarterback for the Bulldogs in 2023, the question remains: how much room is there for him to further develop? This question was posed to head coach Kirby Smart at the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Florida.
Smart highlighted an aspect where he believes Beck can enhance his skills before the upcoming season. He mentioned, “His leadership of the wideouts and the offense. I mean he was in complete command of it, but there were times where he can step up and take on a bigger role as a voice and leader.”
