BREAKING: Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen Announces Major Signing; a former Alabama top star to a four-year deal

Saints agree to a deal with Kool-Aid McKinstry

The New Orleans Saints have signed Kool-Aid McKinstry, formerly of Alabama, to a four-year contract, finalizing their seven-player roster additions.

McKinstry, selected by the Saints in the 2nd round (41st overall) of the current year’s NFL Draft, completed three seasons at Alabama where he tallied 92 tackles (61 solo), 2 interceptions, and 25 passes defended. As the primary punt returner for Alabama in the 2022-23 seasons, he returned 35 punts for 418 yards (11.9 avg.).

Recognized as a first-team All-American and All-SEC awardee, McKinstry was also a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award. In 2022, he clinched second-team All-American titles for both cornerback and punt returner roles alongside being named a first-team All-SEC defensive back.

Following McKinstry’s agreement, the entire 2024 Saints draft class is now officially signed.

Key insights from the OTAs have been distilled, highlighting the significant points from the initial two weeks of observations.

Coach Dennis Allen revealed on the Rich Eisen Show that Spencer Rattler, the team’s fifth-round quarterback pick, will be contending with Derek Carr for the starting position.
