Jaylen Waddle of the Miami Dolphins signs a contract extension
Jaylen Waddle, a wide receiver, has signed a contract extension with the Miami Dolphins that runs through the 2028 campaign.
Miami selected Waddle with the sixth overall choice in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. During his 47 games as a starting quarterback for Miami, he had 251 receptions for 3,385 yards (13.5 average) and 18 touchdowns. He became the first player in franchise history to have three seasons in a row with 1,000 yards or more from receptions in 2023.
He set rookie records for the Dolphins in receiving yards (1,015) and receptions (104) and now retains the record for most receiving yards in a player’s first three years of a career. The South Florida media chose Waddle to receive the Dan Marino Most Valuable Player Award in 2021.
Since Zach Thomas done so in 1996, he was the first rookie for the Dolphins to win the team MVP honors. In 2021, Waddle was included in the PFWA All-Rookie Team. He attended Alabama to play collegiately.
