Forcier coached in Utah under head coach Will Hardy during the previous season while serving as a member of Budenholzer’s staff with the Milwaukee Bucks from 2019 to 23.

The rumored appointment has 30 years of NBA experience, and he was Gregg Popovich’s assistant with the San Antonio Spurs from 2007 to 2013, working alongside Budenholzer.

From 1992 until 1997, the Washington native worked as a coaching intern for the Seattle SuperSonics under legendary head coach George Karl. The Chicago Bulls defeated the Sonics in the NBA Finals of 1996.

Forcier served as an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons from 2001 to 2003. From 2003 to 2007, he was employed by head coach Rick Carlisle with the Indiana Pacers.

After that, Forcier worked for Popovich from 2007 to 2016, Frank Vogel in Orlando from 2016 to 2018, and J.B. Bickerstaff in Memphis from 2018 to 2019.

With the Spurs in 2014 and the Bucks in 2021, he won NBA titles.

David Fizdale, who is returning in a significant assistant coaching role, is another member of Budenholzer’s team. Vince Legarza, a fellow former Bucks assistant coach, was apparently also hired by the Suns.

After Vogel’s one season as the Suns’ coach—which concluded with a first-round playoff exit—Budenholzer took over.
