This offseason, the Golden State Warriors coaching staff might see some big changes. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski stated that assistant coach Kenny Atkinson of the Warriors is a possible candidate for the head coach position after the Cleveland Cavaliers decided to fire J.B. Bickerstaff on Thursday.
Beginning with the Warriors’ 2021–2022 championship campaign, Atkinson has served as an assistant coach for the team for the last three years. His name has been mentioned a lot in relation to head coaching openings, like as the Los Angeles Lakers head coaching post earlier in the offseason.
While Atkinson hasn’t given any of these positions much thought, he may be drawn to the Cavaliers position since it will allow him to work with former players Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert, whom he coached while serving as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.
