BIG WIN: Stephen Curry Wins 2023-24 PBWA Magic Johnson Award.

The Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry and the Los Angeles Lakers’ legendary Magic Johnson are largely in the running for the title of greatest point guard in NBA history. Most people still view magic as the gold standard, and during his career, he had such an impact that accolades are named after him.

Among them is the Pro Basketball Writers Association’s Magic Johnson Award, which is given to the NBA player who succeeds in both on-court performance and exhibiting “cooperation and grace in dealing with the media and fans.”

Curry won the prize for the second time in his career, and the legendary Lakers player praised the Warriors star on social media for his achievement:

Curry became the only two-time winner of the award, joining Damian Lillard and Shane Battier, defeating Bam Adebayo, Tyrese Haliburton, Rudy Gobert, and DeMar DeRozan in the process. Curry was also voted the Clutch Player of the Year, making this his second trophy of the season.

Magic was a media favorite during his Lakers career because of his exuberant nature and contagious smile. The award bears his name because of his candor and entertainment value when interacting with the media. Curry earned the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar trophy last year after being voted the NBA Social Justice Champion, suggesting that he may be developing a habit of taking home honors named after former Lakers players.

Draymond Green’s negative Next season, LeBron James will rejoin the Lakers.

Next season, both the Lakers and Curry’s Warriors will aim to reenter the race for the championship. For the Lakers, a lot depends on if LeBron James rejoins the team; Curry’s colleague Draymond Green isn’t sure whether that will happen.

Like others, Green thinks LeBron will eventually return to the Lakers, but he doesn’t think it’s inevitable. Green expressed his opinion that LeBron will take into consideration any situation that piques his interest.
