Head coach Dabo Swinney is giving the Clemson football roster for 2024–25 great reviews. In advance of the season, the Tigers added no players through the college football transfer portal. But Swinney gave enlightening explanations for the team’s dearth of transfers throughout the spring training.
Joining an ACC PM broadcast, Dabo Swinney discussed Clemson’s zero-transfer decision.
Honestly, it wasn’t really planned. A couple men we looked at—they have to love you too, Swinney said Chapel Fowler on ACC PM. Actually, every player is a transfer in theory. We just signed the entire class of guys who were graduating from high school.
The lack of transfers to the Clemson football team worries Swinney little. He is sure of the solid talent the squad already has.
Our boys are nice. We enjoy the appetisers.Although there is plenty that goes into it, Swinney said, “We had 127 players go through spring and 125 of them are still on our roster post-portal.”
In any case, not many of our boys graduate without a degree. We recently had the highest graduation success rate in college football, and I believe in the Power 5 during the previous 20 years. That sounds advantageous to me. Addition by Swinney.
It is admirable the culture Dabo Swinney is advancing. Fans do, however, want to see the team make adjustments to return to their previous level.
Swinney guided the Tigers to two national championships and four appearances overall since 2009. But not since 2020, when Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was leading the squad, had Clemson made it to the championship game.
Though they have kept up good records, Swinney’s team hopes to make a significant improvement in 2024–25.
Ready to rise once more is Clemson football
The Tigers concluded the 2023–24 season with a 9–4 record, good for sixth in the ACC. Like Swinney indicated, a number of Clemson’s outstanding players will return in the fall. Rising junior quarterback Cade Klubnik will head the offence for the team.
Twenty-third was Klubnik’s career year. He completed 19,844 passes for 2,844 yards. Though not very spectacular, his growth from his first year is encouraging. During the regular season of 2023–24, when the Tigers were having offensive problems, Coach Swinney vehemently stood up for Klubnik.
“He’s had a number of excellent plays. Along the road, there have been a few difficult plays for him. As reported by Barkley Truax of on3.com, Swinney added, “He’s growing.” This youngster seems like he will be spectacular. That disappoints me. Once more, these people behind these microphones, these adolescents, get away with harming others. It is unfortunate, guy, that we have simply accepted that in our society. Tragic, really.
Swinney thinks Klubnik has long-term promise in spite of the criticism.
“This youngster puts in a lot of overtime. No one is flawless. He developing. I truly believe he will be a superstar. He is not currently. Yet he is a fierce rival. His improvement will continue. That guy can have my battle any day of the week.
It will be fascinating to observe how Klubnik and his colleagues do in the next 2024–25 campaign.
