Purdue has secured the commitment of Illinois outside linebacker transfer Calvin Smith.
Smith, a highly regarded EDGE prospect in the 2023 class, was initially recruited to Illinois by Purdue’s defensive coordinator Kevin Kane and outside linebackers coach Joe Dineen before they transitioned to the Boilermakers. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 230 pounds, Smith earned an 88 rating from 247Sports, placing him as a high tier three-star prospect and the No. 52 EDGE prospect in his class from Ocoee (Fla.) High School. Currently, he is ranked as the No. 71 EDGE and the No. 912 overall prospect in the transfer portal.
This commitment marks the second addition for Purdue in the spring NCAA transfer portal window.
