Zach Edey appears to have lost his touch in baseball.
The 7-foot-4 star from Purdue, who has entered the 2024 NBA Draft, was previously a pitcher in his teenage years before dedicating himself to basketball.
Recently, the 21-year-old was at Wrigley Field in Chicago to deliver the ceremonial first pitch at a Cubs-Padres game. However, his pitch was so errant that it shocked Clark the Cub, the team’s mascot. Edey’s attempt flew over the batter’s box for left-handed hitters, bounced off the ground, and ricocheted off the advertising board behind home plate.

Clark the Cub, positioned as Edey’s catcher, turned to follow the wayward ball and then looked back at Edey with a look of disbelief, as much as a mascot’s permanent expression allows.
Back in 2017, according to Prep Baseball Ontario, Edey, originally from Toronto, had a fastball that reached speeds between 74-76 mph and a changeup ranging from 68-71 mph.
