Florida Gators’ Spring Transfer Market Activity
The Florida Gators were initially not anticipated to be very active in the spring transfer market this year, having focused primarily on talent acquisition during the winter window. However, certain areas identified by the coaching staff needed attention following spring football, with a particular emphasis on bolstering the wide receiver position.
One notable player of interest reported by Swamp247 is former Arizona State wide receiver Elijhah Badger. Florida has been in communication with the productive receiver for several weeks, working towards arranging an official visit to Gainesville. The scheduled date for Badger’s visit is set for May 14-16, as per information obtained by Swamp247.
Badger’s collegiate career at Arizona State has seen him amass 142 receptions, 1640 yards, and 10 touchdowns, along with three rushing touchdowns and 111 yards on the ground from 18 attempts. His most impressive season was in 2022, recording 70 catches for 866 yards and seven touchdowns.
Having entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on April 20, Badger has already visited Washington and Arizona. Florida has a track record of success with transfers from Arizona State, exemplified by former Sun Devil wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who made an impact in Gainesville and was recently selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers.
During this offseason, Florida has secured 13 players via the NCAA Transfer Portal, including commitments from former USC offensive lineman Jason Zandamela and former Air Force tight end Caleb Rillos during the spring transfer period. Rillos is expected to join the team as a preferred walk-on. The Gators’ 2024 class currently holds the No. 7 spot on the 247Sports overall class rankings, encompassing both high school recruits and transfer additions.
