Dak Prescott telling response to question talks about his contract extension

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have reportedly been in talks regarding a contract extension during this offseason, but it appears that there has been limited advancement in the discussions.

When questioned by a reporter on Wednesday about any developments regarding the extension, Prescott indicated that there has not been substantial progress. He acknowledged ongoing conversations but confirmed that there have not been significant developments as of yet.

“Not necessarily. Obviously, still conversations,” Prescott said. “I’m aware of what Jerry (Jones) said and everything he said is dead on. Communication has been back and forth, but…yeah.”

Based on the additional information provided, it seems that while Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a minor restructure of Prescott’s contract for the 2024 season, there has been no indication that the team will sign the quarterback to a contract extension at this time.

The report suggests that the Cowboys may be content to wait and see how the 2024 season plays out before attempting to negotiate a new deal with Prescott. This approach could be influenced by the fact that both Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy are in the final year of their respective contracts.

Despite the Cowboys’ recent success, winning 12 games in each of the last three seasons, the team has only managed one playoff win during that span. This lack of postseason success may be a factor in the team’s hesitation to commit to long-term extensions for both the quarterback and the head coach at this point.
