Steelers’ Superstar Preparing for Critical Season

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris is on the brink of a significant season in his professional football career, as the fifth-year option of his rookie contract is looming. Harris is leaving nothing to chance and has been working diligently with his personal trainer, Josh Scott, in Texas, away from the Steelers’ voluntary offseason conditioning program in Pittsburgh. Harris’ training regimen includes agility drills on a sandy beach volleyball court, which presents an added challenge of running through sand and increases resistance during his usual cone drills.

Ever since joining the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020, Harris has been the team’s primary running back, carrying the bulk of the rushing workload. In his three professional seasons, he has consistently surpassed the 1,000-yard mark, even with a declining number of carries each year. With the emergence of Jaylen Warren as a formidable second option, Harris has taken on a lighter workload, forming a dangerous 1-2 punch in the backfield. This trend is expected to persist in the future.

Given the recent appointment of run-focused offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, the Pittsburgh Steelers are anticipated to heavily rely on Harris’ running abilities, potentially more than ever before in his career.
