Milwaukee Brewers standout outfielder Christian Yelich left the Brewers’ matchup with the Baltimore Orioles due to a recurring back issue in the second inning, leaving his return timeline uncertain.
Yelich, who has been dealing with back issues for a while now, felt what the Milwaukee team described as “lower back discomfort” while running the bases in the first inning.
“It’s quite frustrating,” Yelich expressed to MLB.com. “I felt a twinge while running and stopped before it worsened. Usually, when it flares up, I know I’m in trouble. I was right on the edge of that while running the bases in the first inning. Even during defense in the following inning, every step was uncomfortable. Hopefully, we caught it early, and we will assess in the coming days if it improves. Obviously, hoping for the best.
What is the estimated recovery time for Christian Yelich’s injury?
Following his departure in the Brewers’ 11-1 victory against the Orioles, Christian Yelich is currently considered day-to-day. Given his history of back troubles, the duration of his absence from the lineup remains uncertain.
Thankfully, Yelich informed the press that this latest injury doesn’t appear to be as severe as previous ones he has experienced.
“This one doesn’t seem as severe as the past ones,” Yelich commented. “But you can never be certain. I’m optimistic for a speedy recovery, but it’s always unpredictable. It’s just frustrating, man.
