Celtics sign Jrue Holiday to four-year, $135 million contract extension
The Boston Celtics have agreed to a new four-year contract extension worth 9 million less for the 2024-25 season, as per information from Keith Smith of Spotrac.
Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe mentions that the last year of the extension includes a player option clause. Holiday, who previously had a successful season with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2023, making the All-Star team and earning a spot on the All-Defensive First Team, joined the Celtics from the Portland Trail Blazers during the recent offseason.
In his debut season with Boston, Holiday has been averaging 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists, shooting 48.1% from the field and 43.1% from three-point range, placing him seventh in the league for three-point accuracy. Coach Joe Mazzulla had tasked Holiday at the start of the season with leading the Celtics’ defense, which currently holds the second position in the NBA rankings.
Now with his contract extension secured, Holiday is poised to contribute to the Celtics’ pursuit of claiming their 18th championship banner after a remarkable regular season performance.
