As the Cincinnati Bengals shift their focus to the 2024 NFL Draft, the frequency of mock drafts is increasing. With the 18th overall pick, the Bengals have numerous options to address positions of need.
Despite signing Trent Brown to a one-year deal, the Bengals are still open to selecting an offensive tackle in the first round. Sheldon Rankins handles the three-technique role, but DJ Reader’s departure creates a gap at nose tackle.
There is speculation about whether Byron Murphy II could fill that gap, but Pro Football Focus suggests the Bengals might opt for an offensive weapon at 18, surprising some. In this scenario, Cincinnati is predicted to choose Brock Bowers, a highly acclaimed tight end from the University of Georgia.
While it may be surprising to see Bowers slide down the draft board, the tight end class this year is not as deep as last year’s. Bowers is considered a top prospect at his position, potentially elevating his draft stock. His addition could provide the Bengals with a valuable pass-catching option, especially with Tee Higgins’ trade request looming.
The prospect of having Bowers in the Bengals’ offense is enticing. He could potentially be a significant upgrade at tight end for Joe Burrow, regardless of the situation with Higgins.
