Max Pacioretty sustained an injury during Saturday’s comeback win against the Montreal Canadiens and will be sidelined for an extended period, as stated by Leafs head coach Craig Berube.

He missed Monday’s matchup against Tampa Bay due to an upper-body injury and was placed on injured reserve by the Maple Leafs on Wednesday morning. Placing Pacioretty on injured reserve indicates he will be out for at least the next two games, although Berube hinted after the morning skate that his absence might extend beyond the minimum required time.

No timeline on Max Pacioretty yet, but it's longer than "day to day," per Berube.

Berube emphasized that Pacioretty’s situation is more serious than just being ‘day-to-day,’ with many speculating that his injury occurred when he took a puck to the head during the game against the Canadiens. In contrast to Jake McCabe, who exited a game on November 30th after being struck by a puck, Pacioretty did complete Saturday’s game. This marks the second time this season that ‘Patches’ will be missing games due to injury. Ironically, his first stint on injured reserve was due to a lower-body injury he incurred against the Canadiens in November. The 36-year-old signed a one-year, performance-based contract with the Leafs in October. After earning one games played bonus, he is just three games away from another.

Selected in the first round of the 2007 draft, Pacioretty has scored 5 goals and provided 7 assists, totaling 12 points in 32 games this season for the Leafs.
