The Los Angeles Dodgers obtained infielder Andre Lipcius from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for money on Monday.
In order to free up space on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers moved pitcher Clayton Kershaw to the 60-day injured list. Kershaw, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, has indicated his anticipation of making a comeback in July or August following his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery performed in November.
Lipcius batted .286 with a double and a home run in 13 appearances for the Tigers in the previous season. The 25-year-old participated in five spring training matches, achieving 1 hit out of 8 at-bats with a double and an RBI, before being designated for assignment last week.
Drafted by Detroit in the third round in 2019 from Tennessee, Lipcius has played for four seasons with the Tigers, amassing a total of .266 average with 88 doubles, 38 home runs, and 212 RBIs.
