A starting safety for BYU Football has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. After joining the program as a walk-on from Utah State, he spent the last two seasons with BYU.

Initially a standout quarterback at Jordan High School, he quickly established himself as one of BYU’s top safeties in the 2024 season, starting in week three against Wyoming and continuing as a starter for the Cougars’ 10-2 season.

His entry into the transfer portal was first reported by On3, and later confirmed by KSL Sports. During the 2024 season, he recorded 44 tackles, one sack, and two interceptions, including a pivotal interception of Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson that secured a 34-28 victory for BYU.

While he prepares for the Alamo Bowl against Colorado later this month, he is not expected to remain with the BYU football team. Over two seasons, the 6-foot, 200-pound safety accumulated 103 tackles, seven pass deflections, one sack, and three interceptions, starting 16 games and playing both free and strong safety.

He has one year of eligibility left in his collegiate career. The NCAA Transfer Portal opened for undergraduate transfers on December 9 and will remain available until December 28. The player making this transition is Crew Wakley.
