San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is anticipated to be back in the starting lineup this Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills, despite experiencing some shoulder soreness recently. His return is key for the 49ers as they aim to bounce back from a difficult loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 12.
“49ers QB Brock Purdy, listed as questionable due to his shoulder soreness, did not experience any setbacks Friday or Saturday and is expected to start Sunday night vs. the Bills, per source.” via Adam Schefter on X, formerly Twitter.
The young quarterback missed last week’s game because of a shoulder injury, which led to backup Brandon Allen stepping into the starting position. Allen did a commendable job, going 17 for 29 with 199 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. However, the 49ers’ offense didn’t have its usual spark without Purdy leading the team.
Purdy was limited in practice at the start of the week but participated fully on Friday, which is a good indication that he’s ready to play against Buffalo. The 49ers have been careful with his practice load to ensure he recovers well, and since there were no setbacks over the weekend, he’s now set to make his return.
