Bruce Brown will need more time before making his return. Last week, there was some hope from the Toronto Raptors that Brown would rejoin the team during their four-game road trip this week.
However, he has now been ruled out for Friday’s matchup against the Miami Heat as he continues his recovery from offseason knee surgery. Brown is among four rotation players still unavailable for Toronto, alongside Gradey Dick, Kelly Olynyk, and Immanuel Quickley. The timeline for their returns remains uncertain. With Dick out, Toronto made a change to their starting lineup, promoting rookie Ja’Kobe Walter to start on Wednesday, while Davion Mitchell moved back to the bench.
Olynyk participated in some non-contact activities last week, but there is no set date for his return from back spasms, and he has yet to play this season due to the injury. Quickley is not expected to return until mid-next month as he recovers from a UCL sprain. Friday’s game will mark Toronto’s third in the NBA Cup series this year, but they have already been eliminated from the tournament after losses to Milwaukee and Detroit. They will wrap up their Cup schedule next week against the Indiana Pacers. For the Heat, Jimmy Butler, Duncan Robinson, and Terry Rozier are listed as probable for Friday’s game, while Kevin Love’s status is uncertain due to back spasms.
