The Huskers finally clinched a bowl berth by beating Wisconsin, but where will they go?
With their 44-25 victory over Wisconsin, Nebraska football has secured a bowl game for the first time since 2016.
Following Week 13, ESPN writers Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach updated their bowl projections, featuring Nebraska in different bowls but matched up against the same opponent. Last week, they didn’t anticipate Nebraska making the cut, expecting the team to lose its final two games of the season. However, after clinching a sixth win, the Huskers had to be included this week.
Bonagura projects Nebraska will take on Georgia Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl, which is held at Yankee Stadium in New York City. This matchup would provide a fantastic opportunity for Husker fans to celebrate their first postseason appearance in eight years.
On the other hand, Schlabach forecasts the Huskers will compete in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, also against Georgia Tech. While Charlotte, North Carolina, is a closer and more accessible location than New York, it may not offer as much excitement. Regardless, facing the Yellowjackets would still present a competitive challenge for Nebraska.
The fact that the Huskers will be returning to bowl play is an exciting development worth celebrating. The atmosphere during the bowl game will surely be festive for Husker fans, regardless of the location. However, between the two options, playing in Yankee Stadium likely seems like the more appealing choice for those wanting to make the trip.
