Red Wings Confirm Unexpected Heartbreaking News After Brutal Loss to Bruins

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported earlier today that the Detroit Red Wings have placed a forward on waivers. If he clears by tomorrow afternoon, the team plans to reassign him to their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins.

This player has not yet appeared in a game for the Red Wings this season, as he has been on injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury. As a result, he has been unable to participate on the ice until now, even though waivers were required for him to return to the AHL.

After signing consecutive one-year contracts, he is now in his second year with the Red Wings organization. Last season, he played with the AHL Griffins, registering 12 goals and 25 points in 55 games.

Originally drafted 141st overall in the 2016 NHL Draft by the New York Rangers, he played 16 NHL games with New York from 2018 to 2022.

Throughout his AHL career, he has been a reliable if not standout player, accumulating 74 goals and 158 points in 292 games between the Griffins and Hartford Wolf Pack. Given his limited experience at the NHL level, it is likely he will go unclaimed in the next 24 hours.

Once he fully recovers from his injury, this player will not have much responsibility in Grand Rapids. The Griffins are currently one of the top teams in the AHL, boasting an impressive record of 11-4-1 through their first 16 games. The player placed on waivers is Tim Gettinger
