Browns Confirms Groundbreaking News Ahead Of Steelers Game

Although the Cleveland Browns’ 2024 season might be effectively over, they are set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday and are eager to secure a victory against their longstanding AFC North rivals.

While tight end David Njoku, who has been dealing with a knee issue, is anticipated to participate in the game, the Browns have decided to bolster their depth at the tight end position.

According to their official X (formerly Twitter) account, they have promoted a tight end from their practice squad.

This player, a North Carolina native, began his college career at Wake Forest University in the 2018 season. In his senior year, he recorded 24 receptions for 295 yards and three touchdowns but went undrafted in 2022. Last season, he made brief appearances in two games with the Arizona Cardinals as a rookie before the Browns signed him to their practice squad earlier this summer. This season, he has contributed three catches for 13 yards and one touchdown over four games.

After trading away five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper and three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Za’Darius Smith ahead of the trade deadline, the Browns appear to be entering a retooling phase that may include evaluating young talent. Wide receiver Cedric Tillman has seen an increase in his offensive contributions since Cooper’s departure to the Buffalo Bills, and quarterback Jameis Winston has shown potential as he steps in for the injured Deshaun Watson.

Regardless of the Browns’ struggles, a win against the Steelers would provide fans with a reason to celebrate. The player being elevated to the active roster for this game is Blake Whiteheart.
